What To Do When the Heat Goes Out

Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little unluckiness, but we sometimes see heat pump issues in Kingsville during the colder seasons, when they’re required to keep you toasty. While you know the team at Four Seasons Air Conditioning and Heating LLC will forever be there ASAP when you ask for us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to ensure a repair is necessary and save yourself some cash if it’s not. We’ve compiled this checklist of things to test before you give us a call.

  1. It may sound ridiculous, but make sure everything is turned “on”. We’ve been to more than a few calls only to discover the thermostat or the heat pump itself is set to off.
    • Check your thermostat to guarantee it’s on, set to the proper temperature and isn’t fixed to cool.
    • Then try swapping out the battery, if it has one.
    • If everything looks accurate, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re hesitant about where it is) and test your fuses and circuit breaker.
    • Confirm that your gas is on.
  2. If the furnace still hasn’t kicked on, return to your thermostat.
    • If it’s a programmable model, make certain that it’s displaying the correct time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s in fact night, it may not switch your heat on because it doesn’t think you’re home.
  3. Is an obstruction causing your furnace to fail?
    • Inspect your air filters to confirm they’re not jamming things up.
    • Do you have any congested ducts, vents or cool air openings?
    • Are all supply registers exposed?
    • Is your exhaust flue open?

If you’ve worked through this checklist and you’re still deprived of heat, call Four Seasons Air Conditioning and Heating LLC at 361-214-1203 or arrange an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the welcoming and cozy place it should be.
